To Dos Day

___ Item 1: MARVEL...
...at the buh-rilliant commercial that Nathaniel/The Film Experience has created to promote the upcoming "Class of 2007" Supporting Actress Blogathon - January 6, 2008. We're but 18 days away. So use Nathaniel's commercial to stir your inspiration pot and ready your post. Embed it on your blog. Make it the latest viral video. Adapt it as a solo performance piece. Do whatever you will. Just enjoy...

___ Item 2: CONGRATULATE...
...the general deliciousness of recently acclaimed StinkyPals. Once again, Modern Fabulousity got his QueerVerve on by being named "Best GLBT Arts/Culture Blog." And already beloved for Radio-Allegro, the astonishing Ashley's podcast was awarded 1st Prize in the very cool "Digital Diversity Electronic Media Creation Competition on Immigration" competition. Congrats, kids. It's an honor just to be seated at your table during the awards ceremony. (I am invited, right?)...

___ Item 3: TELL ME WHY...
...Designing Women - The Complete Series has NOT been released on DVD. (This lameness does not count.) It's all I really want for Christmas. (For those of you who've missed it, StinkyLulu periodically descends in a righteous depressive spiral bemoaning the injustice of this simple fact. Move along - nothing to see here - move along.)...

___ Item 4: COLLECT...
...your special treat from StinkyLulu and The Gals...

___ Item 5: IMAGINE...
...if they made one of these for every Supporting Actress nominee. Or perhaps a special line of Barbies. Or perhaps paper dolls. Or crafty kits. Or bendy toys. Or action figures... Mmmmm, good times.

___ Item 6: CONTEMPLATE...
...this question: Which Best Supporting Actor Nominee Do You Find Sexiest? StinkyLulu's developing a scheme for a Supporting Actor feature and welcomes your input on how I might focus some overdue attention on Supporting Actors. Of course, I really don't care about Supporting Actors all that much so I find that I'm delving to the shallowest depths as I start my operating list of the sexiest Supporting Actors. I don't really need to be reminded of current hunkas (Clooney, Pitt, Wahlberg, Honsou and -- of course -- Gyllenhaal) but, if you were to delve into the archive, which Supporting Actors make you swoon? Share your secret fantasies in comments...

Have at it, lovelies...

But Clooney uglified himself for his Oscar, and Brad Pitt was nominated because it was one of his first major non-hunk roles. They're sexy men (some may say even the sexiest alive!) but they weren't sexually charged in their performances the way Clive Owen and Jake Gyllenhaal were.

Nevertheless, I nominate Cuba Gooding, Jr. for "Jerry Maguire" and -- hear me out! -- Jack Palance for "City Slickers". I'm not necessarily attracted to men old enough to be my grandfather, but I don't think there's ever going to be a speech full of more masculine bravado than Palance's one-armed push-ups.

But not to worry--
My thought on "Supporting Actor Sexy" is to do a lifetime achievement kind of thing. So even though Paul Newman's first supporting actor nom came when he was old, we can count his whole career of hotness...

From the early years:

Claude Rains in Notorious.
John Dall in The Corn Is Green (I haven't seen it, but: John Dall).
Robert Mitchum in The Story of GI Joe (again, haven't seen it, but).
John Garfield in Four Daughters.

Here's some hunka hunka numminess...

- River Phoenix in Running on Empty (1988)
-Peter Firth in Equus (1977)
-Brad Dourif in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
- Jeff Bridges in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974)
- Jason Miller in The Exorcist (1973)
-Seymour Casssel in Faces (1968)
- Frank Finlay in Othello (1965)
- Omar Sharif in Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
- George Chakiris in West Side Story (1961)
- Don Murray in Bus Stop and Robert Stack in Written on the Wind (1956) - yum!

Wait a second... I was going back far enough to get to James Dean, the nummiest actor around. But I just figured out that he was only nominated for Best Actor! (For Giant?? Those were the days...)

All right, I need to get to work, heh heh...

I know we're doing lifetime achievement and not specific performances, but I have to add Jude Law for The Talented Mr. Ripley -- he perfectly nailed the sexual ambiguity of that part.

I think I'll go with River Phoenix. Pretty, pretty man.

I guess I shouldn't say Matt Dillon as the evil racist hot cop in Crash, the only bearable aspect of the film...

I'd go with Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback or Edward Norton in Primal Fear. I guess I have thing for gay cowboys and bad boys.
