• Right Wing Talk Show Bullies.
• Giant SUVs & Passenger Trucks.
• Movie Critics Who Claim The Musical Is (Or Should Be) Dead Because It's Not Believable When People Just Burst Into Song Or Just Start Dancing For No Apparent Reason.
• Claymates.

3 things people do that make you want to shake them violently:

• Students who treat the syllabus for a college course as a quaint collection of helpful hints best glanced at the night before exams. (These are typically the same students who consider any amount of required reading cruel and unusual punishment AND who complain that there's too much theory in an upper level theory course, or too much history in a required history course.)
• Colleagues who trash talk students for not meeting deadlines or doing the reading, while also indulging said behavior by canceling class, extending deadlines, and skipping assignments (because "how can I teach it if they haven't read it").
• Civilians who, upon (a) hearing that I teach college and (b) realizing it's summer, say things like "when do you have to go back to work?" or "must be nice to not have to work until September..." (These are only occasionally the same civilians who believe college campuses are, by definition, hotbeds of radicalism where conservative students are beleaguered minorities, deserving of special protections.)
