REVOTE for April's Supporting Actress Sundays!

In the voting that began last week, early indicators suggested that 1992 would be y'all's selection for the upcoming month. At the same time, it seems that my selection of possible years gathered a good deal of interest on multiple fronts. Recently, however, I learned that Enchanted April -- long in vhs-only limbo -- is finally being released on DVD in early May (ironically enough, not April). As a result, by executive fiat, I've elected to postpone 1992 until MAY and reopen a new voting cycle for April. (For the record, I dropped 2001 from the roster of contenders only to get some historical diversity in there; I don't want to get to June having only considered films from the 1990s and 2000s.) So, knowing that we'll be looking at 1992 in May, I put it once again to you, lovely reader...

What year deserves the focus
for APRIL'S month of
Supporting Actress Sundays?

I voted for 1983. I really don't want to see 1959 get it! I hate that year.

My vote goes to 1977, although seeing 1983 would be interesting. Both years are the closest to the one in which I was born.

1959 is quite special :)

how can you beat this piece of trivia?
"At 2 minutes, 32 seconds, Hermione Baddeley's performance is the shortest Oscar-nominated performance in movie history."

as I've seen it, I can confirm it :P

I voted for 1968 just for the oddness of the nominees, but I definitely wouldn't mind a 1959 win, if only so I would finally have an excuse to see the glorious Thelma Ritter in Pillow Talk

I didn't realize "Enchanted April" wasn't on DVD. Now I feel stupid for donating my VHS copy.

I really don't want to see 1959 win, if only because "Imitation of Life" bothers me on so many levels. Like, 12 levels. Maybe more.

Imitation of Life is a great example of acting variety in a film; the two nominated performances go from disastrous (Kohner) to greatness (Moore).

Dame James Henry: I agree. Thelma is so much FUN in Pillow Talk. Her drinking scene with Rock Hudson is hilarious.

I thought "Imitation of Life" was, as a whole, quite disastrous.
