VOTE: DECEMBER's Supporting Actress Sundays!

After a brief respite from the vicissitudes of participatory democracy, StinkyLulu suspects that -- for the last month of Supporting Actress Sundays before my annual hiatus -- I should ask you, lovely reader, to determine December's roster of Supporting Actresses. As you'll certainly note, I've tweaked things to direct our attention to two decades as yet ignored in 2007 (the 1930s and the 1960s) and prioritizing the later 1960s, some of the strangest years of the category and years heretofore ignored entirely by Supporting Actress Sundays. So, lovely constituents...

What year deserves the focus
for DECEMBER's month of
Supporting Actress Sundays?

1966: Sandy Dennis in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Wendy Hiller in A Man for All Seasons, Jocelyn Lagarde in Hawaii, Vivien Merchant in Alfie, Geraldine Page in You're a Big Boy Now.

1937: Alice Brady in In Old Chicago, Andrea Leeds in Stage Door, Anne Shirley in Stella Dallas, Claire Trevor in Dead End, May Whitty in Night Must Fall.

1967: Carol Channing in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Mildred Natwick in Barefoot in the Park, Estelle Parsons in Bonnie and Clyde, Beah Richards in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Katharine Ross in The Graduate.

1938: Fay Bainter in Jezebel, Beulah Bondi in Of Human Hearts, Billie Burke in Merrily We Live, Spring Byington in You Can't Take it With You, Miliza Korjus in The Great Waltz.

1968: Lynn Carlin in Faces, Ruth Gordon in Rosemary's Baby, Sondra Locke in The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Kay Medford in Funny Girl, Estelle Parsons in Rachel, Rachel.

1939: Olivia de Havilland in Gone With The Wind, Geraldine Fitzgerald in Wuthering Heights, Hattie McDaniel in Gone With The Wind, Edna May Oliver in Drums Along the Mohawk, Maria Ouspenskaya in Love Affair.

1969: Catherine Burns in Last Summer, Dyan Cannon in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, Goldie Hawn in Cactus Flower, Sylvia Miles in Midnight Cowboy, Susannah York in They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

The choice is yours...

I'd gladly see you take on any of the late '60s contests... but I'd especially love hearing everyone's reactions to Carol Channing's "does this person come from OUTER SPACE?" performance in "Millie" in 1967.

i didn't vote for either of them but the two leaders 67 and 39 are both so fantastically discussable that we're in for a treat

Well - not to vote against the grain - but I would vote for 1938.

I'm 16, so I'm basically a newb in terms of decades before 1990, but although I did love Sandy Dennis in 'Virginia Woolf?', I picked 1967 ~ looks like a fun year.
