StinkyLulu's 25 Favorite Television Characters Ever...

Just bumped into this post over at TVSquad about a "List of 25 favorite TV characters" that Joss Whedon put on his blog. Paraphrasing James Gunn:

The RULES are...

  • No puppets or cartoons.
  • No mini-series.
  • No reality show people.

I was about to freak out on you for omitting Claire Huxtable, who was clearly the best TV character ever, but then you mentioned Sisters, and all was forgiven. You must be so relieved. ;)

Hee.
I am relieved -- first, because on another day Claire might have made the list, and, second, that someone else in the world knows/loves Sisters. I am such a dork for that show.

i am so not a tv person. i don't know some of these characters.

plus i hate designing women -if i weren't such a typical gay in so many other ways the board of directors might've dismissed me for just this.

Um yeah, I think this may be the apex of queer, though I think you steered away from the 70s/early 80s enough. This makes me want to come up with a list that includes Charlene Tilton, Lauren Tewes, Lynda Carter, adn Adrienne Barbeau.

N, if slamming the delicious Designing Women is your way of getting back at me for not loving Almodóvar, then I really don't think this is the time or the place. Why you wanna hurt me, and catch Stinky in the crossfire? ;)

OK, kids, I love both Designing Women and Almodovar. More than is appropriate, in either case. So, perhaps I can be the bridge in this little feud?

(Plus if either of you talks too much trash about either, I'll cut you. I mean it.)

And yeah: Lynda, Lauren and Charlene did cross my radar ('specially Charlene). But they didn't quite make it. (And I've never really watched Maude and mostly know AB from gameshows and Battle of the Network Stars.)

If I were gonna pick a person from Designing Women to heap love upon, it would've been crazy old Bernice... I have a soft spot for the tottering & bewildered, though. Jean Smart almost made my list as Martha Logan on last season's 24. She's a great great actress.

LOVE that you included Maria from Sesame Street! And Uhura!

Kristin Davis almost made my list, too, but as Brooke on Melrose Place... I LOVED the mean mean mean way that show treated her character, ripping everything away from her and then drowning her in the pool... she was hysterical.

Great list!

I think the list would have been gayer if someone from Buffy/Angel had made it.

It still is incredibly queer though :)

Never much cared for Designing Women, however I did watch Golden Girls religiously (and they were paired together for the longest time on Lifetime)

I was so hoping you'd know Prisoner, par... I always loved/loathed Bea, while Joan The Freak always scared me a little. I did love that show...
